History of Movingboom

2012

Back in 2012 we launched a successful removal quote comparison site. We saw that there was an opportunity to try and simplify the process of finding removals companies.  We were excited by the idea that customers could compare prices and get a really great deal on what is typically an expensive service. The idea behind this was to offer customers up to 6 removals quotes when they submitted a quote request. They would they be contacted by companies who would make offers which the customer could compare to find the best price.

The comparison model was very popular and it gave our customers the opportunity to receive no obligation quotes, by filling out a single form, where in the past you would have had to ring around lots of companies manually to get quotes. The idea of digitizing an industry that millions of people use every year was our aim.

2014

As we moved forward we looked at ways to improve this service and developed an intelligent system that was able to match customers’ requests to companies in their locations. Customers were then able to request a removal quote and receive quotes in real time which they were able to accept or decline.

2015

In 2015 we began to see a shift in the way people used the internet to find services. A lot of companies started to appear that were offering up to 6 quotes when a customer requested a quote. We started to see a problem where customers did not want to see their details sold to lots of companies to then be contacted by sales people, and removals companies did not want to waste money buying leads for jobs that they may not even win. Ultimately, the cost of the leads they were buying would be passed onto the customer meaning that this system did not always deliver the best prices. It is because of this that we started to plan to rebrand and create a new system that fits better into the market and the needs of our customers and our moving partners.

2016

We started redesigning our whole system with the idea of launching Movingboom.com in 2017. Our idea was to build on what we had previously developed, but to make it smarter, easier to use and more intuitive.

We also wanted to change the functionality as we believed that the market had changed since the original comparison site. We felt that customers had moved on from the 6 quote systems. We felt that customers wanted more control over the hiring process, and wanted to view as many offers as possible, as quickly as possible so that they could make a decision based on easily available information. Our idea was to create a system which gave the customer the choice of how they recieved quotes and developed a system around this.

We wanted to control the number of actions needed to hire a removal company to simplify the system. We also wanted to move away from the purely lead based model, where companies purchased leads and contacted the customer, so we redesigned our system so that removal companies could either pay a small fee in advance or a bigger fee when they win the job.

Security has also been a major part of our development, so to protect our customers we have developed a strict verification system so that all removals partners can be trusted.

The overall aim is to create a unique, easy to use system, that is bespoke, intuitive, fast and safe to use.

2017

Movingboom.com Launched in January 2017. We now have hundreds of moving partners registered with us and are growing our market share making it even easier for our customers to save money moving house. We have developed our system to give our customers more control in how they recieve quotes, and have built some great tools to help our moving partners win business faster while reducing their costs, making their business even more profitable. The future for Movingboom.com is very exciting and our aim for 2018 is to continue to grow and develop our systems to make Movingboom.com the only name that people think of when moving house.
